 AES Dominicana
AES ANDRES is one of the companies owned by the AES Dominicana group. Since 1997 AES has invested more than 800 million dollars in the Dominican Republic, mainly through a single equity interest in Dominican Power Partners and AES ANDRES and with a 50% interest in ITABO, S.A., where AES is a strategic partner of the Dominican State.
AES Dominicana is the only group with two deep-water port infrastructures in the country. The Liquid Natural Gas terminal located in the AES Andres energy park is the natural gas entry point into the country, while the Itabo International Port is the only port that receives mineral coal and other types of materials.
AES Dominicana uses the synergy between all of its businesses to create the strength that consolidates it as a young and efficient group committed to national development, adding value to its clients, and always promoting the Values of AES Corporation.
As a business group it combines a global perspective with deep local knowledge and an untiring commitment to operational excellence to help communities grow, through a safe and reliable supply of electrical energy. This has never been more evident than during 2006 where each one of the businesses exceeded its own historical record of availability, generation, and efficiency.
The excellent results of AES Dominicana marked the difference in the evolution of the national electrical sector, with the permanent generation based on natural gas and mineral coal for electrical generation, and a marked increase in the use of natural gas on a large scale by retail sectors such as commerce, industry, and vehicles.
